Today we’re going to focus on instructions for adding, changing or freeing up a desktop license. Yep…your SSI Oil and Gas Accounting Software has instructions for that. On the surface it might look confusing, but it’s really not.
Are you a DIY type person? If so, you can add a new user desktop for SSI and DIY (do it yourself) using the technical instructions we’ve provided.
Instructions are located under the Help tab on the main SSI menu top ribbon bar. From the dropdown choose Technical Help. You will see several topics for all kinds of techno‐nerdy stuff.
We are going to concentrate on three topics.

3 – Installation – Setup & Transfer Desktop Installation
Follow this if your user currently has a desktop and has been gifted with a new desktop. It’s almost like Christmas!
Open the document and see Start with Step 1 (highlighted in yellow). This is a simple old to new transfer ‐ take SSI off the old, desktop and add it to the shiny new, faster desktop. Our only suggestion? If you can still get to the old desktop to get the user preferences, your user will be happier and not have to reset color schemes, passwords, etc. up again. The instructions for saving the User Preferences are noted in RED at the TOP of the document.
This document also works in the case of a new desktop for a new user, IF you’ve got an extra license floating around and available to give.
See Start with Step 2 for this method. It’s an easy process to add SSI to a new desktop if you’ve got a free license available to use.

What if you’re adding new users and don’t have any more desktop licenses to give? Call SSI for a price quote to add a license. We can schedule to add more, quick and EZ.
4 ‐ Uninstalling – Removing SSI from Desktop and Freeing Up License
This is very similar to 3 (above) but it’s a short‐cut. It will remove SSI from a desktop and therefore free up a license but that’s all. Like if someone leaves but has not (yet) been or will not be replaced. It’s taking SSI off of a desktop but not putting it ON a new (user) desktop. It’s basically the first half only of the above document 3.
